SUMMARY:HOPE...Grief Recovery for overdose & drug-related deaths
DESCRIPTION:In this FREE 8-week workshop you will discover how you can move beyond the pain caused by death by using The Grief Recovery Method®.\n\n\n\nHOPE is a Grief Recovery workshop specifically geared for those who have experienced loss due to drug-related deaths …overdose\, infections caused by dirty needles\, suicide\, organ failure due to years of drug use\, or accidents. \nWhile attitudes have changed\, many are still hesitant to share with others that their loved one died a drug related death. The fear of questions and comments cause grievers to suppress their emotions and further complicates the grieving process. \nThe Grief Recovery Method® is an evidence-informed\, practice-based program that has been shown to effectively influence components of grief and grief recovery. \nHow Does the Grief Recovery Method Program Work? Based on over 40 years of practice dealing with grief and working one on one with grievers\, the GRM program helps reduce grief by teaching grievers new skills on how to cope and process grief (knowledge); how to confront old myths or unhelpful patterns of grieving (attitudes); how to examine the ways in which grief has impacted their life through detailed assignments and exercises (beliefs); and how to let go of pain from loss through the timely identification of apologies\, forgiveness\, and significant emotional statements\, all within a helpful\, supportive environment (behaviors of grief recovery). \nFind a safe place to share your story with others who understand what you are going through. Discover how to process the pain of the loss of your loved with dignity and honor so you can find HOPE. Attend the first session to learn more about the 8-week Grief Recovery Method® so you can determine if you want to continue. \nLed by Joy Gaertner\, Certified Grief Recovery Specialist. \nFREE childcare is provided.

SUMMARY:HOPE Grief Recovery
DESCRIPTION:Hope is a Grief Recovery workshop using The Grief Recovery Method\, specifically geared to those who are experiencing a loss due to a drug-related death. While attitudes have changed\, many are still hesitant to share with others that their loved one died a drug-related death. The fear of questions and comments cause grievers to suppress their emotions. This inability to comfortably share with others the emotional pain they carry further complicates the grieving process. \nJuly 17-September 4\n6:00-8:00 p.m.\nThe 8-meeting Grief Recovery Method Support Groups offers a safe\, evidence-based environment for grievers to take effective and lasting action\, no matter the type of loss experienced. Workshops allow participants to work through a Workshop in a lecture-and-small group format. Participants learn from others whose grief may have divergent origins.  This is not a drop-by workshop\, but after the first session\, participants are asked to make a commitment to be at the remaining sessions. \n  \nChildcare provided. \nRegister at www.powellchurch.com\nCost:  We are able to provide this workshop free of charge through a Holston Foundation Grant.\nIf you have questions\, please contact Joy Gaertner at joy.walkingwithjoy@gmail.com.
